You start out by multiplying the number of units for each course by the grade achieved. Divide the sum of the points (grade points) by the total number of units attempted (count letter grades A – F only).

*Note: Your cumulative GPA is displayed on your CAPP degree evaluation degree evaluation.

Calculating Your Major, Minor, or Last Two Years of college GPA:
Follow the calculation process outlined below on just the courses that apply to your major, minor, or last two years of course work.

Courses and grades are listed on your unofficial and official transcript, and could also be found or on your CAPP degree evaluation (found under detailed requirements and additional information).

You can find which courses apply to your major or minor by referring to the University catalog from the year you were accepted into your major or your detailed requirements section of your CAPP degree evaluation.

GPA Calculation Examples:
Course Number of Grade Points Number of Units
ENGL 025 A (4 points) 4
BIOL 051 B (3 points) 4
ARTS 007 C (2 points) 4

A (4 points) x 4 (credits) = 16 grade points (English 025)
B (3 points) x 4 (credits) = 12 grade points (Biology 051)
C (2 points) x 4 (credits) = 8 grade points (Art 007)

Total grade points =36 (sum of 16+12+8)
Total credits attempted =12 (sum of 4+4+4)

Total grade points/credits attempted equals GPA
36 divided by 12 equals a GPA of 3.00
